Nya Alemayhu joins Sotheby’s International Realty, taking pride in serving all communities across the DMV. An Ethiopian-American and fluent in Amharic, Nya believes that successful real estate transactions are rooted in relationships – which begins with listening to the client’s needs and wants.

Nya’s background is steeped in customer service. Prior to entering the world of real estate, she worked in the high-end retail industry, spending 10+ years building teams, developing relationships and opening stores for top national retailers. Nya remains passionate about service and is fully committed to a positive client experience.

In her native country of Ethiopia, Nya is part of the leadership team bringing KEFITA to Addis Ababa creating an experience for the Diaspora to replicate their international living standards in Ethiopia. In the DMV, Nya is a proud board member of the Ethiopian American Chamber of Commerce. She is also a part of the Founders Circle of Haile-Manas Academy, a college preparatory boarding school for high achieving students based in Debre Birhan, Ethiopia. 

In her spare time, Nya travels the world – Germany and Addis Ababa were her two latest destinations – explores DMV’s vibrant restaurant and cultural scene, and goes on long walks with Maxie and Milo, her Maltese dogs. She lives in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, DC and loves discovering all the buzz that the DC metro area uniquely offers.
